Description
If you immediately think of long fields of purple in Provence, you are right! The richly branched shrub with small purple flowers and narrow lance-shaped leaves with a sharp aromatic scent originates from the Mediterranean, but you can already find lavender fields here in South Moravia as well. Lavender is very popular due to its beautiful fragrance and wide range of healing effects, making its way into our gardens or balcony boxes. It mainly contains essential oils and tannins.
Blooming period: July, August.
Effects and Uses
Lavender has calming, energizing, healing, antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It soothes allergic reactions and insect bites, heals the skin including blisters and minor burns, and is suitable for eczema-prone skin with psoriasis or dermatitis. Aromatherapeutically, it combats fatigue while providing calming effects and alleviates muscle and joint pain.
When taken internally, it helps against stress, sleep disorders, palpitations, and serves as a stroke prevention. Lavender lemonade is also fantastic!
